Obiguard Desktop · Connectors

Ask about your Asana tasks.
Governed by your organization.

The Asana connector lets the AI in Obiguard Desktop find and read your tasks and projects, with your own Asana account, under the policy your organization sets.

macOS, Windows and Linux. Needs an Obiguard organization and an Asana account.

What it does

Your tasks, in the conversation.

Find tasks

Search tasks by text, project, assignee or due date, and read a task with its notes and comments.

See projects

List the projects in a workspace and what is in them, as the signed-in person can see them.

Create and update, if allowed

Tools that create or change a task exist, but an admin has to turn them on, and can require a reviewer to approve each call first.

Nothing more than you

Calls run with your own Asana account, through Asana’s hosted MCP server. The model sees only what you can open in Asana.

Admins stay in control

Nothing is allowed until an admin allows it.

Off until an admin turns it on

The connector is added switched off, with no tools allowed and no credential. Nobody can use it until an admin chooses which tools people may use.

Read first, write by choice

The read tools are suggested; the tools that change Asana are off by default and can be set to “Ask first”, so a reviewer approves each call.

Every call recorded

Each tool call, its policy decision and its result are in your organization’s audit trail, like every prompt.

Tokens stay on the server

Your Asana sign-in is held on Obiguard’s server, never in the app. Disconnect yourself at any time; an admin can disconnect anyone.

Setup

Connect Asana in a few minutes.

Prerequisites: an Obiguard organization with Desktop (free to start), Obiguard Desktop installed, and an Asana account. Asana Enterprise+ admins can allow or block MCP clients in Asana’s app management; if Obiguard is blocked there, ask your Asana admin.

For the Obiguard admin, once

  1. 1

Open Admin → Connectors → Add connector and pick Asana.

Obiguard provides the Asana sign-in, so there is no app to create and nothing to enter. Press Add.

  2. 2

Turn the connector on and choose where it is offered.

    Chats, Coding, or both.

  3. 3

Press “Connect my account to list tools”, then choose which tools people can use.

The read tools are marked as suggested. Nothing is allowed until you save. Set create and update tools to “Ask first” if you want a reviewer to approve each call.

  4. 4

    Tell people it is there.

Asana appears on their Connectors page with a Connect button.

For each person

  1. 1

Open Obiguard Desktop and go to Connectors.

    Asana shows as “Not connected”.

  2. 2

    Press Connect.

Your browser opens Asana’s sign-in and authorization page. Sign in with your own Asana account and allow the access shown; the browser then returns you to Obiguard Desktop.

  3. 3

    Ask.

In a chat, ask about your tasks in plain words, for example “What is due this week in the Website project?”. Desktop shows which tool it used and what came back.

  4. 4

    Disconnect when you want.

The Connectors page has Disconnect; Asana’s own Apps settings list Obiguard Desktop too.

Full details, including who can use which tools and the review queue, are in the admin guide inside Desktop (Help → Admin guide).
