Obiguard Desktop launches as a governed AI workspace for macOS, Windows and Linux
Obiguard Desktop is a governed AI workspace for macOS, Windows and Linux. Bring your own model; every prompt is checked and recorded.
KUALA LUMPUR — Obiguard, the AI risk governance company, today launched Obiguard Desktop, a governed AI workspace and local AI proxy for macOS, Windows and Linux. People bring their own model, whether it runs in the cloud, on their organisation’s network or on their own machine, and every prompt is checked by Obiguard’s AI governance platform before it reaches the model and recorded for the organisation.
Desktop is a chat workspace for people and a local endpoint for their tools. In the workspace, personal data and other sensitive content is handled under the organisation’s policy before a prompt is sent, and each message shows what the policy did. For developer tools, Desktop provides an OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible endpoint on the machine. Claude Code, Codex CLI or any SDK can be pointed at it by changing the tool’s base URL, and its requests are checked and recorded exactly like chat. A blocked request returns an error the SDK already knows how to handle.
Desktop does not ship a chat model of its own. It works with hosted providers, with endpoints on an organisation’s network and with models on the user’s own machine. For a hosted model, the Obiguard gateway checks the prompt and forwards the request. For a model on the organisation’s network, Desktop sends the prompt straight to that endpoint once it has been checked, and reports the result, so the model never has to be reachable from the internet. Obiguard’s own models are guard and judge models that check prompts and replies. They are not a general chat model.
Every prompt and reply is recorded as a trace in the organisation’s audit trail, together with the policy that applied, what was redacted or blocked, which model answered and how much it used. The organisation’s administrators and reviewers can see this according to the roles and retention the organisation sets, and Desktop tells staff what is recorded and who can see it. Because checks and records happen at the gateway, Desktop needs a connection to it. If the gateway cannot be reached, requests are blocked rather than sent unchecked.
Obiguard Desktop is available now for macOS on Apple Silicon and Intel, for Windows 10 and 11, and for Linux as .deb, .rpm and AppImage packages. It is free to start with an Obiguard account, and the free plan has usage and retention limits. Team adds central policy, dashboards and fleet features, and Enterprise runs the whole stack, including the gateway, on the customer’s own infrastructure. Download it at obiguard.ai/desktop.
